Melman is a joy to ride inside and outside the arena. He loves all people and wants to please his person. Standing 14.2 hh, he is the perfect size. Melman has the most comfortable little jog and the smoothest lope departure. He’ll lope on a draped rein and has easy transitions. A nice walk, a pitter-patter trot or a big trot, you choose. Simply hold your leg on for his beautiful lope departures.

He is a very fluid mover and would excel in Ranch Riding and Versatility events. He is naturally low headed and has the prettiest way of going around the arena. He’s fun to to do the reining maneuvers on with great speed control, pretty spins, and sliding stops. Melman is extremely cowwy and has a cowhorse feel. He will track a cow around hand down and is super fun to work a cow with. Smart, athletic, and fun this handsome boy will make you smile every time.

Melman enjoys riding the trails, ranching, or the arena. Happy to go out alone he goes where you point him. Go for a trail ride, a leisurely cruise down the road, or a stroll through town; he’ll cross water, logs, is used to wildlife, crazy dogs, cattle, traffic and kiddos! He’ll side pass to open and close gates, go over bridges, and drag a log or whatever you dally to the horn. He has gathered cows in large pasture and is used to wide open spaces. He has been to town to see the lights, trail rode in Arizona, branded on, and done all the ranch jobs. He has started roping the sled and slower steers and calves in the arena. He has plenty of speed and cow.

Melman has the looks, and the mind, we all love with tons of athletic ability and a pedigree to back it up. He is an own son of reining sire GUNNIN FOR CHICKS who has earnings over $78,000.

Sarah Moreland of S Lazy M Ranch in western SD has always had a passion for training horses. She started training horses for the public at 15 yrs old and her husband Seth and son Sterling still train horses and ranch in Red Owl, SD.
"I grew up on horseback since I was a little girl and still live, love and breathe horses every day. We love starting colts, making good solid performance horses and our ranch is a great place to get that solid foundation that every horse needs. Spring ranch work with all the branding is a highlight along with all the summer and fall cattle work. I love all that the ranch provides for these horses but training time in the arena and taking them to town is important too. I enjoy showing cow horse and AQHA Ranch Versatility as well as training and running barrel horses. I'm loving dabbling in the breakaway roping as well. My passion is to train and provide well rounded, gentle, solid, quality performance horses that anyone can go on with and enjoy. Seth, Sterling and I all have a part in making these horses, although Sterling's job, as a toddler, consists mostly of desensitizing at this point, and I'm blessed to get to call this my job and to raise our son in this lifestyle, doing what we love."
